Dr. Meenakshi Rana is working in the Department of Physics, School of Sciences at Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani, since August 2019. She did her M.Sc. from Department of Physics, Kumaun University, Nainital and Ph.D. in Physics (Molecular Spectroscopy) from Jaypee Institute of Information and Technology (NAAC accredited Deemed University), Noida. She has qualified CSIR-NET with AIR 12, Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (U-SET) and GATE in Physics. Dr. Rana has published more than 35 research papers in reputed international journals, conference proceedings and published four book chapters.

Dr. Meenakshi Rana has attended several international/national conferences/workshops and presented her research work. She has refereed for ACS Applied NANO Materials journal, structural chemistry, and international journal of material research. Furthermore, she has research collaborations with Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bangalore, Kerala University, Guwahati University and Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS).

Dr. Meenakshi Rana has experience of handling UV-Visible absorption spectrophotometer, Photo Luminescence (PL) spectrophotometer and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectrophotometer. She has software skills in Gaussian 09, Molecular Docking, Molecular Dynamics Simulation, Origin Pro, Peak Fit, MATLAB, Mathematica, VEDA, Mathematical Data Analysis and MS-Office.

 

Research Areas: Her area of research interests is Capped and Uncapped Quantum dots, Fluorescent sensors in terms of their applicability for the detection of environmentally hazardous metal ions, Quantum dots as markers for cancer cells detection, Nonlinear optically active materials and Solar cells. Presently, she is working in the field of Molecular Docking and Molecular Dynamics Simulation.

  • Received young researcher award from Uttarakhand Sate Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) 2022 in the discipline materials science and nanotechnology.
  • Received Leading Woman Researcher Award from Uttarakhand Sate Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) on International Woman Day (8th March, 2021).
  • Received Special Award from Uttarakhand Open University, Haldwani on the occasion of International Woman Day (8th March, 2021).
  • Won Best Scientific Poster Award in International Conference on Perspectives of Vibrational Spectroscopy (ICOPVS) held at Lucknow University (2016).
  • Won NASI-SPRINGER Award for Best Paper Presentation during 86th Annual Session of NASI academy in the field of Physical Sciences held at Uttarakhand State Council for Science & Technology (U-COST) Dehradun (2016).
